project status
The project was implemented in September 2004. Since that day the project is running selfsufficient and sustainable

It is with great pleasure and pride to introduce this first-of-its-kind project that we have successfully put up in Bohol. Dubbed as Solar Project in Cabilao Island, this consorted undertaking of CITE and DED has tremendously taken Bohol by storm and is extending its reach to other parts of the country.

The Solar Project is conceived to be the panacea to the Philippines’ far-flung areas dimmed by illiteracy. Cabilao, a 4-square-kilometer islet off Loon town in Bohol with 3, 500 people, was chosen by the project team to become the first island in the country to have a solar-powered internet computer laboratory.

With these ultra-modern I.T. facilities, the project aims to help the island folks acquire top quality I.T. education and provide them a means of livelihood by converting the laboratory into an internet café for tourists during non-school hours. Never has Cabilao been this blessed from its electricity-deprived days to what we now call the I.T. hub.

The resounding success of this project in Cabilao has prodded us to look for other potential islands in the Philippines, which share the same plight as Cabilao’s.
